We Get It

Back to list Down Arrow

Our initial connection with We Get It was through Good for Nothing Bath which curates collaboration gigs to connect grassroots social innovators with willing creatives to help build and support their causes. We were one of those creatives sat in the audience and even before the applause had subsided, we were shaking Laura by the hand following her incredibly honest and emotional pitch. It was at that moment that we promised we would do all that we could to set her brand on the right path.

The first task was to choose a name.

The original name was Eat, Move, Glow which was misrepresentative of their aims, as they wanted to provide support and information for both men and women of all ages dealing with cancer – everything from eating well to exercising and accessing their local Bath cancer community.

We met over coffee and we listened.

We let Laura tell her story and heard why she felt Bath needed a support community that understood exactly what anyone affected by cancer was going through. In her words, “If you want to scream all day – we get it”, “If you can’t face your family today – we get it”, “If you want to laugh and cry in equal measures – we get it”… and right there we had our new brand name.

The beauty of this brand is that it originated from inside Laura, her sentiment, her authentic voice. All we had to do was identify it, define it and design it. The logo was creatively interpreted by James Shaw of Volley Design. Building a bold, human statement that supported the sassy attitude of the founder and her defiant personality.

With the brand identity in place the website grew to incorporate all of the support materials, stories and events. We Get It now hosts an ever growing calendar of workshops, talks, meet-ups and exercise classes.

It’s hard to put into words how proud and humbling it is to see how this cancer support group has grown in such a short period of time. Which has to be attributed to the determination of the incredibly generous volunteers driven by the inimitable force that is Laura Phillips – someone I’m so proud to call a dear friend.
